Wines from Austria & Eastern Europe including Tokaji
In this tasting we explore 3 of the world's most interesting wine nations all with huge future potential.
Those in the know, know that there's a booming wine scene in Austria If you have heard of Gruner Veltliner, then that's a good start, but there's much, much more to Austrian wine. A nation with a proud winemaking history and unique winemaking 'terroir' is now in the hands of a new generation of cutting edge winemakers producing fabulous, light, fresh and floral wines. In this tasting you'll taste your way through a range that brings Austrian wine to life.
It's near neighbour, Hungary, can claim the world's oldest 'appellation' with the extrordinary wines from Tokaji being recognised as one of the world's most unique wines styles since the 1700's. We'll taste a typical Tokaji and reveal what makes it so lusciously sweet and explain the A to Z of Tokaji from 'Aszu' to 'Zeta'. We will also taste a late harvest style wine.
Finally we will taste a red wine from Romania which in the last 5 years has seen over 100 new wineries open to supply demand from a thirsty local population with wines made from a diverse and characterful range of local grape varieties.
ISO professional tasting glasses, tasting notes, water biscuits and table water are provided.
