With the festive season just around the corner join us as we taste our way through a special selection of Fortified wines from around the world.

Fortified wines may have a reputation as being 'Granny's favourite' but in this tasting we will explain how the process of fortification creates a myriad of exciting wine style possibilities. From bone dry to lusciously sweet there is a style for every palate and every occasion.

First stop is Jerez in the sunny south of Spain where we will challenge the stuffy perception of Sherry as we compare and contrast a couple of different styles. We'll explain how the wines are made and the key differences between the various styles. Next, we'll explore Madeira, a wine that takes it's name from the beautiful rocky island that sits proudly in the Atlantic Ocean and reveal how a complex ageing process creates a totally unique style of wine. Finally, no festive meal is complete without a glass of Port and we'll help you get behind the lingo so you know the difference between a Tawny and a Late Bottle Vintage Port and of course we will taste a couple of the best examples we can find. The tasting will include a festive treat as we match some Mince Pies with a delicious fortified wine.

This tasting includes the use of professional ISO tasting glasses, and all other tasting materials including tasting sheets, water biscuits and table water.
