Evening Introduction to Beer Tasting
If you thought beer was just 'brown and bitter' then think again. There's literally a whole world of beer to choose from. Our evening introduction to beer tasting will help you get more from your pint and will arm you with a wealth of useful knowledge about the nation's favourite tipple. You'll get to taste seven different delicious beers that demonstrate the huge range of styles available in bars and pubs across the county.
Over the course of the two hours we'll tell you about the history of beer and then explain the brewing process. You'll get to sample malt and hops and understand how these two ingredients influence the taste of a beer and we'll also share with you why beer is such a good companion to food.
We'll show you how to taste and evaluate beer as you taste your way through a selection beers and understand where each beer comes from, how the style has evolved and what makes it so special. At every tasting you will get to enjoy a selection of seven different beers including many of the following styles:
- A deliciously yeasty German Wheat Beer
- A premium Pilsner style lager
- A traditional British Pale Ale
- A modern American IPA
- A creamy, citrussy Belgian Wit Bier
- An authentic Trappist beer
- A traditional British Porter
- A Belgian Geuze
- A food-friendly fruit beer
- A funky, modern craft-style lager
- A locally-brewed artisan ale
Want to know the difference between beer and lager? The difference between an Abbey beer and a Trappist beer? Why stout tastes so bitter? There will be plenty of time to answer all your beer questions throughout the evening.
