Tour de France Stage 1: Bordeaux & Burgundy
Join us for our evening tasting, Tour de France Stage 1, which covers the classic French regions of Bordeaux and Burgundy. We will taste at least 6 red and white wines which will showcase the best of these two world class regions.
Part 1 - Bordeaux
Bordeaux is probably the World's most famous wine region and we all know it as the home of ‘Claret’ the generic name we give to the region’s classic reds. But there is much more to this warm, south-westerly part of France. The climate and soils are perfectly suited to the red grapes Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot but the region also produces deliciously vibrant & complex whites from Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. If you thought that Bordeaux was just about expensive red wines, this tasting will reveal how much variety is really available - delicious food-friendly reds & whites to suit every budget.
Part 2 - Burgundy
Nestling in the centre of France, Burgundy is a wine region locked in any wine aficionado's heart. It is steeped in tradition and home to classic grape varieties Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. It's also where you'll find some of the most prestigious wines on the planet, from areas such as Puligny-Montrachet, Chablis and Nuits-St-Georges. Through a careful selection of wines that demonstrate the style and typicity of wines from Burgundy you''ll get a thorough understanding of what makes the 'terroir' of this region so special. A delightful region to taste your way through.
