World Malbec Day tasting
Join us as we celebrate the past, the present and the future of one of the world’s favourite grapes!
Wednesday 17th April is officially World Malbec Day (or Malbec World Day!). It’s the day when Malbec lovers around the world celebrate the deliciously deep and chocolatey flavours that have introduced a whole new generation of wine lovers to full-bodied red wines.
The date itself, 17th April, is significant as it’s the anniversary of the decision taken in 1853 by the Argentinian President to import Malbec vines from France. For our celebration of the Malbec grape we will share some superb examples from Argentina and compare them with a wine from the traditional home of Malbec; Cahors in France. Which will you prefer?
With the popularity of Malbec at an all-time high, other wine producing nations are now keen to show what they can do with this great grape and we’ll reveal where you can find Malbecs to rival the best from Argentina.
We’ll also explain why Malbec can claim to be the world’s healthiest red wine and taste a Malbec paired with some fine dark chocolate - an amazing combination.
We’ll taste 6 different Malbecs (subject to availability) including:
- A Sparkling Malbec Rosé!
- A rich, juicy Malbec from Mendoza, Argentina
- A modern Argentinian Malbec blend
- A top quality Cahors from France
- A Malbec sourced from an up and coming wine region
- A Malbec specially selected to pair with fine dark chocolate
